Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries – General Conference is responsible for these primary functions:
- Leadership, direction and oversight.
- Administration of the department, committees, and chaplain associations
- Global strategic and contingency assessment and planning,
- Professional standards, policies, and ethics
- Development of professional training and continuing education
- Provide guidance to the world divisions on policies regarding ecclesiastical approval and endorsement
- Coordination of certifying boards and certification of programs
- Budgeting and resources management
- Chaplain integration and accountability with the church and Adventist ministry
- Evangelistic outreach, discipling, and pastoral care
- Operational support for church members in military and public service
- Advocacy and liaison with public professional organizations and military relations
