Welcome to Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (ACM), the Seventh-day Adventist ecclesiastical endorsing body for Adventist Chaplains.
The role of ACM is to empower competent, caring, committed Adventist Chaplains to serve wherever their presence is needed. Chaplaincy worldwide enjoys rapid expansion, and Adventist Chaplains are often recognized as among the best professionally equipped practitioners in the field.
Seventh-day Adventist Chaplains are pastors who have chosen a specialized ministry. They are the face of the world church on private and public educational campuses, in community settings when they minister to law enforcement, first responders, and others; in prisons, in hospitals and hospice settings, in the military, as counselors, and in diverse settings such as the Olympic Games and airports. Chaplains often touch the lives of those who have no formal connection with church or religion.
Chaplains
Adventist Chaplains are on the frontlines of mission as they work in settings that are often inaccessible to parish pastors. Their presence provides a unique opportunity to share hope, the Gospel, and Adventist values and mission in hospitals, schools, military bases, prisons, police and fire departments, and even the workplace.
Publications
Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries offers two quarterly magazines. The Adventist Chaplain is a professional journal explicitly designed for Adventist Chaplains.
The second magazine, sponsored by the World Service Organization, is For God and Country. This publication supports all Adventists who serve in uniform, whether in the military, law enforcement, firefighting, Search and Rescue, EMS, or other fields.
Adventist Chaplains Database
If you are an Adventist Chaplain, register in our ACM database. You can subscribe to receive digital copies of our publications, join our email list, and more. When ACM offers training events, you’ll receive notifications about them.
Clinical Pastoral Education
Clinical Pastoral Education, commonly called CPE, provides practical clinical and theological training. Certified CPE educators supervise students as they learn through an inductive process. Students develop pastoral care skills, learn how to assist those in crisis, better understand themselves, and more. This occurs as the students reflect, discuss, and critically evaluate.
Endorsement
Why do Chaplains need to be endorsed? Ecclesiastical endorsement through Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries is the official declaration that a person meets the standards set by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries Department to serve in the specialized ministry expression of chaplaincy.
Board Certification
After a chaplaincy Chaplain is endorsed, gains experience, and develops ministry skills in the chaplaincy setting, the next step is Board Certification. Board Certification through the Adventist Chaplaincy Institute demonstrates that a Chaplain has met established national standards for professional competence and is held to a code of ethics.
World Service Organization
The World Service Organization (WSO) and the National Service Organization (NSO) are an integral element of Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (ACM). The WSO (at the global and Division levels1) and the National Service Organization (at the Union, Conference, and local levels2) are tasked to support Adventists who serve their governments. These organizations fulfill a fundamental mission of the church–to ensure pastoral care and religious support are available for Adventists serving their nations in military and defence forces, law enforcement, and other government agencies.
Adventists In Uniform
Adventists in Uniform is a World Service Organization (WSO) ministry sponsored by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. It supports those who serve in the defence forces of their nations worldwide.
Support comes in various forms, including assistance in religious accommodation, guidance on military service, and a free subscription to the digital publication For God and Country. This features relevant articles for Adventists in military, law enforcement, and government service and also includes news and information about the World and National Service Organization.
Medical Cadet Corps
The Medical Cadet Corps (MCC) is a World Service Organization/National Service Organization (WSO/NSO) ministry under the umbrella of the Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The MCC trains and equips members to provide spiritual comfort or “Spiritual First Aid,” first aid, relief, rescue, and humanitarian aid in times of emergency and disaster. When requested, the MCC also provides logistical support to all Seventh-day Adventist church activities and programs.
