GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
GOALS
· Tailor chaplaincies and department to meet changing world situation (religious, political-military and disaster), as well as legal, professional and functional requirements
· Achieve proportional balance for the various chaplaincies; recruit additional corrections and workplace chaplains
· Obtain adequate resourcing to achieve the ACM vision, mission, goals and functional responsibilities
· Establish an adequately staffed ACM Department separate from the GC ACM Department
· Place Adventist clergy as chaplains on public colleges and universities
· Establish a viable, Church-directed campus ministry to Adventists attending public colleges and universities
· Establish and implement a certified Adventist Clinical Pastoral Education program in place of non-denominational programs
· Insure chaplain pastoral care and religious support is readily available for church members in special situations
· Educate Church membership about military-related issues and prepare contingencies
· Engage each chaplain in some form of evangelistic and discipling outreach
OBJECTIVES
· Continue on-going review of ACM goals and functions; evaluate ACM for effectiveness and efficiency; adjust as needed
· Obtain approval for rewrites and updates of Working Policy books and ACM Department Manuals of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); implement changes
· Publish chaplain and director’s manuals; chaplain rosters; update all NSO pamphlets
· Maximize electronic communication means for efficiency in office administration and use in training; transfer all hard copy files to electronic files
· Obtain adequate funding from the GC that represents its proportional share
· Hire field representatives for Northeastern USA as approved and editor for ACM journals
· Renew contracts with Advent Source and replenish inventory of literature, NSO Bible kits, displays and coins
· Complete assessment study of chaplain opportunities on public campuses; and if feasible, place Adventist chaplains on public colleges and universities across North America
· Conduct a joint training conference for chaplain associations in conjunction with the opening of the 2010 General Conference session
· Prepare for ACM participation in the 2010 General Conference session
· Coordinate chaplain coverage of all Adventist Military Chapel Worship Groups overseas and provide religious materials, retreats and other support for military-related members
· Honor all retiring Adventist chaplains
